There are 8 classes of approximately 18 children and each class has one teacher and a teaching assistant.
By the time they reach the age of 12, the majority of children attending Keshet at HRS are capable and confident of taking full part in the regularly held Youth Services. This age group usually enjoys an educational trip to Amsterdam having studied the Diary of Ann Frank beforehand. A fee of £100 is payable for each child per year attending Keshet which includes the cost of books.
Attendance at the Rabbi's Bar/ A fee of £100 is payable for each child entering the Bar/BatMitzvah class. We encourage children to further their Jewish education by attending both GCSE and A/S classes in Jewish Studies held by Rabbi Katz. The classes are enjoyed by students and result in high grades [usually A*] by those attending. A fee of £250 for the two year course is payable per student. The exam fee is extra. Both Keshet and GCSE classes are availabe for children of non members. Fees are available on application. We have an active Parent's Association that support the teaching class by providing their refreshments at break time and at staff meetings. HRS boasts an enthusiastic and well attended youth programme called 'Keshet'. Our Head of Education, Laura Rolfe, and Head of Educational Events and Youth Services, Laurence Stein work closely together to provide an exciting and full programme of Jewish studies, activities and Hebrew reading for children aged between 5 and 13.
All Festivals are studied and celebrated with either social and/or creative activities, often with parent participation. The children are very much enthused by individual class planning which results in the whole Keshet's ultimate enjoyment of the Festival or event.
